All our buses and the Lugano City-SBB Railway Station funicular are accessible to people with disabilities, but some stops are not suitable. Download the PDF with all the information here.
If you can, we advise you to organise your trip outside peak times; you will travel more comfortably and with complete piece of mind.
Do you want to feel safer when you travel by bus? Here are our suggestions.
Wheelchair users
-
Position yourself in a spot clearly visible to the driver and signal your intention to get on the bus.
-
Open the second door by placing your hand on the button, wait for the driver to lower the platform, and then get on.
-
Tell the driver which stop you want to get off at.
-
Put yourself in the correct position, i.e. facing away from the direction of travel, with the back of the wheelchair resting against the folding seats and attached to the side using the appropriate hooks.
-
Before arriving at your stop, press the button (blue or yellow).
-
Wait for the driver to lower the platform and then get off the bus.
-
Attention: the maximum capacity of the platform (wheelchair + person) is 350 kg
People with mobility difficulties
-
Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching.
-
Get on the bus at the front door; before getting on, always press the door open button, even if it is already open.
-
If possible, use the specially reserved seats, located at the front of the bus.
-
Before arriving at your stop, press the red stop button.
-
Only get up when the bus has come to a complete stop.
-
Get off the bus via the front door, first pressing the door open button.
Blind and partially sighted people
-
Stand at the beginning of the yellow line, or on the tactile and visual signs if present, with your white stick clearly visible so that the driver can easily see you and open the front door for you to get on.
-
The driver will tell you the bus's destination before letting you on board.
-
If it is the bus you were waiting for, get on and take a seat, in the first row if possible.
-
Press the red stop button before arriving at your stop, and get off via the front door, pressing the door open button first.
Note: if the automated voice that announces the bus stops is not working, the driver will ask you where you want to get off and tell you when you are about to arrive at your destination.
Deaf people or people with hearing impairments
-
If you think it necessary, when the bus is stopped, tell the driver verbally or using a card (in sign language for deaf people who sign) that you have hearing problems.
-
Sit where you can see the driver and the monitor.
-
In case of unforeseen events and if the driver communicates any changes verbally, seek visual communication and, if necessary, ask other passengers for further explanations.
-
Before arriving at your stop, press the red stop button.
